SINGAPORE (Aug 22): Mobile satellite communications (Satcom) firm Addvalue Technologies announced Tuesday that its proof-of-concept trial to demonstrate the applications of using Satcom combined with Internet of Things (IoT) technology to keep tourists safe has been successful.

Run in partnership with Chinese IoT specialist Falcon Technology, the trial tested the ability of using Satcom IoT to enhance the safety of tourists in Kanas, located in China’s Xinjiang Province.

Bordered by Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia, the scenic Kanas, which spans some 10,000 sq km, has seen a growth in tourist arrivals.
