SINGAPORE (Dec 15): Optus, Singtel’s wholly-owned Australian subsidiary, is helping Townsville City Council improve its way of doing business while providing significant digital service channels for the community.

In a deal worth A$20 million ($21.2 million), Optus Business will support council operations with greater real-time flexibility, mobility and resilience enabled through Optus' next generation of mobile, cloud, security and managed services.

Aside from basics such as telecommunication services and software deployment for council staff, the scope of the contract also includes features like improved connectivity to sites including water and wastewater treatment facilities so that they can be better managed remotely, particularly in times of extreme weather events.
