SINGAPORE (Jan 18): Just days before the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States of America, all eyes are on the potential impact of Trump’s trade policies on Asia.

Out of Trump’s seven-point trade plan, three proposals target China directly: labelling China a currency manipulator, bringing trade cases against China, and using every lawful presidential power to remedy trade disputes if China does not stop its illegal activities.

During the presidential campaign, Trump had also proposed slapping a 45% tariff on Chinese imports.
