For many months, China has remained as a centre of stability in an increasingly unstable world. The business world is increasingly recognising this, and as noted over previous weeks, there is a flood of business people flying to China to renew old contacts or as first-timers looking to make new business connections.

For those new to China and travelling for their first time to China, the prospect can be daunting. It’s not just the business-related issues and protocols, but also the smaller day-to-day details that can make the difference between an easy journey and one filled with frustration.

Many things have changed, and perhaps the most obvious one is in regard to cash. At the airport, there are no longer lengthy lines of travellers queuing up to buy Chinese yuan before boarding their flight to Beijing or Shanghai.
