Accountants need to be agile to navigate Industry 4.0, says ACCA

SINGAPORE (May 27): When the broader business environment changes, long-held norms and skills need to be relooked. There will be casualties, but there will be opportunities as well. Industry associations for professionals, such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Singapore, are playing their part in urging and guiding members along so that they can help bring about positive change in their organisations and clients, instead of becoming victims of “disruption”.

Leo Lee, immediate past president of ACCA, says its strategy and vision is to empower its members to cope with change and seize new opportunities. Speaking at the ACCA Annual Conference 2019 on May 14, he says: “This is essential for companies in order to transform and grow internationally and not stand still. Navigating this changing course globally is more important now than ever, and to be successful, businesses must be flexible, resilient and adaptable.”

Lee adds that ACCA is taking the lead in being agile. “Our mission is to shape and lead the profession, and by offering insights on the importance of connections in a changing world through bridging the global infrastructure gap and innovation in public sector finance. By demonstrating how we are shaping and leading the profession through connections and partnerships, we are acting as a super-connector, bringing our stakeholders together at major events.”
