Life sciences and innovation hub Geneo will welcome the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) as one of its tenants, says Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology in the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
A*STAR will establish a biomedical research facility at the new development, says Tan. This will allow the agency to build on its strong foundation in Biopolis while situating itself closer to its partners based at Geneo.
Speaking at Geneo’s official launch on Friday (May 22), Tan said in his opening remarks that the business park represents a $1.4 billion investment in Singapore’s research and development (R&D) capabilities, with a focus on the biomedical sciences.

“R&D is, and will continue to be, a key pillar of Singapore’s economic strategy,” Tan says. “We cannot compete on scale alone. Our competitiveness therefore must come from innovation, technology, creating higher value-added products as well as solutions.”

Jointly owned by CapitaLand Development (CLD) and CapitaLand Ascendas REIT, Geneo has a total gross floor area of approximately 180,600 square metres and spans three properties: 1 Science Park Drive, 5 Science Park Drive and 7 Science Park Drive. The development was fully completed in 2025.
Friday’s opening marks the first time the tenant spaces at Geneo are fully operational. The development’s tenants include A*STAR, Barry Callebaut, Chugai Pharmabody Research, Henkel, and NSG Bio.
“Geneo is part of a broader vision for the rejuvenation of SSP (Singapore Science Park). Alongside LyndenWoods, the upcoming first residential project in SSP, and Citadines Science Park Singapore, the first lodging facility in SSP, there are pipeline plans to add residential developments that will further enliven the precinct,” says Jonathan Yap, CEO of CLD.
