Singapore Airlines will be using generative AI to speed up digital product development, following a successful pilot project with global tech consultancy PALO IT.

The national carrier tested a new AI-first software development methodology developed by PALO IT, called Gen-e2, within one of its digital product squads. The trial centred on embedding GitHub Copilot throughout the entire software development lifecycle to help software engineers write code faster and with fewer errors. Developers work alongside the AI tool continuously, making the system more adaptive, iterative, and automated.

Consequently, the team took five weeks to develop a website feature instead of requiring nine weeks if they built using traditional development practices. Moreover, code coverage improved, build success rates climbed above 90% in just three weeks, and developer sentiment toward the AI-assisted workflow was overwhelmingly positive.
