Singapore is expanding its use of advanced technologies in public safety, with the Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) outlining plans ranging from satellite-based monitoring to continuous upgrades of frontline systems.

At the Milipol TechX Summit earlier today, HTX signed two agreements with ST Engineering and NCS that point to how the city-state intends to build and sustain new capabilities across its security agencies.

The more immediate push comes through a five-year partnership with ST Engineering to develop space-based technologies for public safety operations. The programme will explore how satellites can support observation and early warning, including the detection and monitoring of hazardous gas plumes offshore.
