Sun Singapore’s new AI-based smart parking system uses PlanetSpark’s EdgeAI Box X7, which is powered by FPGA-based AMD Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoCs. Aupera Technologies also helped design and develop FPGA firmware and AI vision solutions for accurate license plate readings. With FPGAs, these edge devices have a long service life and can adapt to changing AI models, algorithms, demands and standards.
Sun Singapore is leveraging AMD for its new AI-based smart parking system that can recognise vehicle licence plates more accurately. It also offers advanced features like parking spot vacancy detection, lane jam, accident detection, and parking violation enforcement.
The new solution aims to enhance existing electronic parking systems in Singapore, which rely heavily on legacy infrastructure that lacks artificial intelligence (AI) inferencing. Besides enabling more features, data generated through AI can provide advanced reporting to car park operators.
