Google has announced the completion of its US$5.4 billion acquisition of cybersecurity firm Mandiant.
Mandiant will join Google Cloud but retain the Mandiant brand.
“Combining Google Cloud’s existing security portfolio with Mandiant’s leading cyber threat intelligence will allow us to deliver a security operations suite to help enterprises globally stay protected at every stage of the security lifecycle.
“With the scale of Google’s data processing, novel analytics approaches with AI and machine learning, and a focus on eliminating entire classes of threats, Google Cloud and Mandiant will help organisations reinvent security to meet the requirements of our rapidly changing world,” wrote Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, in a post on the Google Cloud’s blog.
Echoing Kurian, Kevin Mandia, CEO of Mandiant, says in a Mandiant blog post: “I am very excited that Mandiant and Google Cloud can now work together to leverage our frontline intelligence and security expertise to address a common goal: to relentlessly protect organisations against cyberattacks and provide solutions that allow defenders to operate with confidence in their cyber security posture.
“More specifically, we can leverage our intelligence differentiator to automate security operations and validate security effectiveness.”
