M1 has announced a strategic collaboration with Ericsson to enhance its 5G network with advanced automation and analytics, and best-in-class network observability.

The telco will deploy Ericsson’s Transport Automation Controller (ETAC), a cloud-native system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to automate and optimise its transport network, including microwave, IP, and optical segments

During a successful proof-of-concept phase, the transport controller demonstrated its capability to identify sources of interference, improve synchronisation monitoring, bolster service assurance, and provide advanced root cause analysis (RCA). These capabilities are key for supporting mission-critical sectors such as port operations.
