SINGAPORE (Dec 14): BlackRock Investment Institute forecasts a synchronised global expansion with room to run in 2018 and beyond, albeit with less room for upside surprises to lift markets.

According to BlackRock, the eurozone is enjoying its fastest economic expansion since 2011. Meanwhile, it says emerging market (EM) growth looks self-sustaining, even if powerhouse China slows more than markets currently expect.

“Buoyant equity and credit markets might suggest investors are exuberant. Yet our analysis points to undertones of caution,” says Richard Turnill, BlackRock’s global chief investment strategist, in the 2018 Global Investment Outlook.
