SINGAPORE (Sept 25): Through the ages, legends abound about the search for elixirs of immortality. But more than half of Singaporeans say they do not want to live to 100 years of age, according to a report launched today by Prudential.

Even as the number of centenarians here has surged – from just 50 in 1990 to 1,100 in 2015 – some 55% of respondents to the Ready for 100 research report written by The Economist Intelligence Unit say they are not healthy or wealthy enough to live to that ripe old age.

In fact, only 29% the 1,214 Singapore residents surveyed for the report say they want to live to 100 years old.
