SINGAPORE (Sept 3): Malaysia’s Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was cleared of corruption charges earlier today.

The Penang High Court acquitted Lim for charges involving the purchase of a bungalow in Penang. He was charged with two counts of abusing his position in approving a land deal and in the purchase of a bungalow in Penang below market price.

Businesswoman Phang Li Koon was also arrested in relationship to the case. She is the former owner of the bungalow, which Lim had purchased from for a consideration of RM2.8 million ($0.93 million) in 2015.
