SINGAPORE (Aug 3): Michael Wong Pakshong, the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s (MAS) first managing director who served at the post from 1971 to 1981, passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 86.

In a statement yesterday, MAS conveyed its condolences to Wong’s family, and remembered him as one who laid the foundations for MAS as a central bank and integrated financial regulator.
