Singapore Airlines (SIA) will fly to Phuket, Thailand from March 4 on Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
The move comes as part of SilkAir’s integration with SIA.
More SilkAir routes will be progressively transferred as nine 737-800 aircraft join the SIA fleet.
The routes will allow SIA to operate the aircraft to points within its current network starting with Brunei in March.
The full integration of SilkAir into SIA is slated to be completed by the FY2021/2022.
The SIA 737-800 has 12 business class and 150 economy class seats.
“The introduction of the SIA 737-800 NG will bring about a more comfortable and seamless travel experience for customers on our regional routes. Integrating SilkAir with SIA also allows us to be nimble and flexible in aircraft deployment, and supports our fleet and network growth strategy,” said Goh Choon Phong, SIA’s CEO.
Shares in SIA closed 7 cents lower or 1.7% up at $4.09 on Jan 28.
