As part of the Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) Group, what edge does OCBC Indonesia have over the domestic state-owned banks in Southeast Asia’s most populous country?

Martin Widjaja, wholesale banking director of OCBC Indonesia, says the bank lacks the coverage of the four major state-owned banks. “But we are present in almost 95% of the locations where [customers] want to do business,” he adds.

Within the region, OCBC’s network stretches from Singapore to China, including Malaysia and Hong Kong. This is a boon to foreign investors setting up shop in Indonesia, especially for southbound investments from Greater China.
