SINGAPORE (July 21): Barely three months after being appointed as group CEO of Millennium & Copthorne (M&C), Clarence Tan has tendered his resignation to “spend more time with his family”.
Tan, whose appointment took effect on April 2, will leave on Aug 2.
According to the company’s SGX filing, “Moving forward, he remains open to interesting or suitable opportunities that may come along.”
At M&C, he reports directly to parent company CDL’s chairman Kwek Leng Beng.
M&C has around 150 properties with a total of some 43,500 rooms.
Prior to M&C, Tan was the managing director for South East Asia and Korea with London-listed InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
In September 2018, Jennifer Fox, a previous M&C CEO, quit after just three months.
Tan Kian Seng, M&C's chief of staff, served as interim CEO.
CDL shares closed July 21 at $8.50, up 2.16% for the day.
