The charges against Ong correspond to the two charges which Iswaran pleaded guilty to on Sept 24. Iswaran was sentenced to 12 months in jail on Oct 3.
Ong Beng Seng will continue to carry out his duties and responsibilities as Hotel Properties (SGX:H15) ’ managing director, says the company in an announcement dated Oct 4.
This comes after Ong was charged in court for offences under Sections 165 and 204A(a) read with Section 109 of the Penal Code 1871 on the same day. Section 165 accuses Ong for abetting former transport minister, S Iswaran to obtain two flights and accommodation in Doha, Qatar worth $20,843.03. The offence under Section 204A(a) is for abetting Iswaran to obstruct the course of justice, reads the release by the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
