Hong Kong-based gaming software company Animoca Brands has launched Open Metaverse Alliance for Web3 (OMA3), a decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO).

The DAO — which operates like a consortium — aims to ensure virtual land, digital assets, ideas and services are highly interoperable between platforms and transparent to all communities.

Current OMA3 members include Animoca’s subsidiary The Sandbox as well as other metaverse gaming platforms such as Decantraland, Dapper Labs and Alien Worlds.

A non-fungible token (NFT) listed on GameStop’s NFT marketplace which referenced a 9/11 victim has been removed from the site. The NFT, which features a falling man in an astronaut suit, was on sale for 0.65 ETH.

GameStop launched the marketplace earlier this month, aiming to expand its functionality to encompass additional categories such as Web3 gaming, more creators and other Ethereum environments.

Meanwhile, troubled crypto platform Zipmex is considering an offer from an interested party after halting withdrawals following financial difficulties of one of its key business partners.

In a tweet, the company said its conversations with various parties have progressed significantly and a due diligence is set to commence.

Zipmex holds a license for digital asset trading from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand. In Singapore, it is an exempted payment services provider with regard to the provision of digital payment token services.
