The Australian Information Commissioner (AIC) has filed court proceedings against Singtel Optus and Optus Systems, alleging privacy breaches due to the cyberattack that took place in Sept 2022.

In a statement, the Optus entities will review and consider the matters raised in the proceedings and will respond to the claims made by the AIC in due course.

"At this stage, the Optus entities are not able to determine the quantum of any penalties. That is ultimately a matter for the Federal Court to determine.
