ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has officially opened STT Bangkok 1, the first carrier-neutral hyperscale data centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
STT Bangkok 1 is the first of two buildings in the STT Bangkok Data Centre Campus, located in the business district of Hua Mak.
The seven-storey building has a gross floor area of 30,000 square metres and delivers up to 20 megawatts of total IT load capacity to support customers' business expansion with the ability to scale to 40MW.
“The launch of the STT Bangkok Data Centre Campus marks the first milestone for our company and a new era of digital infrastructure in Thailand,” says Supparat Singhara Na Ayutthaya, CEO at ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Thailand).

Citing data from Frost & Sullivan, he points out that the demand for colocation services in Thailand is rising, with the industry projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 26.5%.
“With our capabilities, we are confident of capturing new demand and providing the strongest foundation enabling our customers to realise their visions for a smarter, more sustainable digital future,” he adds.
Clement Goh, CEO-Southeast Asia at STT GDC, says the group had identified Thailand to be “market ready for growth” and decided to invest ahead of the curve to ensure its presence there. “STT GDC has a proven ability to replicate and scale in the markets that we have built a presence in, helping customers navigate and expand into Asia’s fastest-growing yet most complex environments,” he adds.
STT Bangkok 1 is the first data centre in Thailand to have been awarded both the TIA-942 Certification Rated-3 and Uptime Institute Tier III Certification of Design Documents and Constructed Facility. It was also awarded the LEED Gold v.4 certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
