Sembcorp Industries has refuted reports that its 40%-held power and water plant in the UAE, the Fujairah F1, has been damaged following attacks by Iran.
Besides the Fujairah 1 in UAE, described as the world's largest desalination plant, Sembcorp also operates the Salalah IWPP and the Manah II Solar Independent Power Project in Oman.
"Operations in all three facilities are currently continuing but as the events are evolving, Sembcorp continues to monitor the situation closely," says Sembcorp.
"All of Sembcorp’s employees are safe at the moment. The facilities have contingency measures in place, and the safety and well-being of Sembcorp’s employees remain its top priority as the company maintains operational stability," the company adds.
In addition, without referring directly to other recent reports that Singapore faces a potential gas crunch because exports from Qatar are being disrupted, Sembcorp says that its supply remains secure, with no anticipated disruptions in the near term.
Sembcorp says it is able to leverage its diversified portfolio of long-term natural gas supply contracts across both piped and liquefied sources.
