By end-2025, SEFR will also recommend suitable international emission factors for common business activities, such as air travel, where local data is not yet available.
More than 700 Singapore businesses have used the Singapore Emission Factors Registry (SEFR) to calculate their emissions, and firms involved in information and communications technology (ICT) services, cleaning services, professional services and security services can soon measure their carbon footprint with greater accuracy.
At the United Nations Global Compact Network Singapore (UNGCNS) Summit on Oct 8, Second Minister for Finance Indranee Rajah announced the expansion to SEFR’s database with new locally relevant and sector-specific emission factors, bringing the total count to over 220.
