NETS, on Nov 9, announced the introduction of an integrated point-of-sale (POS) terminal solution for merchants from the food and beverage (F&B), hair & beauty, and retail sector.

The integrated POS solution allows merchants to manage the entire store from one single terminal, compared to conventional POS systems which comprise multiple devices such as a payment terminal, cash drawer, dedicated display and receipt printer.

The new solution features a handheld terminal that is powered by the cloud and runs on an Android operating system (OS). This means updates for menus and promotions can be done over the air; business owners can update their offerings on the go as well. The system also offers a streamlined setup, pre-configured software, compatibility and user-friendly interfaces.

The terminal accepts all major forms of payment including NETS bank cards, FlashPay, NETS prepaid cards, credit cards as well as QR payments from DBS PayLah!, OCBC Digital, UOB TMRW and Alipay+, Malaysian digital payment apps and Thai bank apps. It will also be able to handle other processes including tracking sales, managing inventory, scanning barcodes, scheduling bookings, and calculating sales commissions.

“In a tight labour market, it’s crucial for small businesses to enhance productivity to stay competitive. Integrating solutions alongside payments enables micro business owners to operate efficiently through automation or self-service solutions, resulting in shorter waiting time for customers. At the same time, it also provides businesses with instant information of their sales performance, allowing them to manage the business with a data-driven approach,” says Lawrence Chan, group CEO of NETS.

Over 100 merchants participated in the pilot phase this year.
