GIC CEO Lim Chow Kiat sees a “remote possibility” that the US dollar will lose its reserve currency status.
“There are some challenges with regard to debt and fiscal position. Growth is very important; it does seem like a lot of things are riding on AI to get growth. There’s a lot of reliance on AI delivering productivity, so if that doesn’t happen, you might get a bit of a hairline crack,” says Lim at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2025 on Nov 19.
