IHH Healthcare Berhad is looking to potential new markets Indonesia and Vietnam as the Malaysian hospital operator continues building scale to offset rising healthcare costs in the region.

Indonesia is attractive, thanks to its healthcare reforms and foreign ownership relaxation, while Vietnam has emerged as a booming market, according to CEO Prem Kumar Nair.

“We get a lot of patients from Vietnam into our Singapore operations,” he said in an interview in Kuala Lumpur this week.
