Keppel Corporation has appointed Shirish Apte as an independent director to its board.
Apte’s appointment will take effect from July 1. He joins eight other directors, out of which six are independent directors.
He will be appointed as a member of the audit committee and the board risk committee on the same date.
Apte is currently the non-executive chairman of Pierfront Mezzanine Capital and Fullerton India Credit Company. He is also a director of Keppel Infrastructure Holdings, IHH Healthcare Berhad and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Apte, who retired in 2014, had built up 32 years of financial services experience, holding various senior positions in Citigroup, including the chairman of Asia Pacific Banking.

Shares in Keppel closed 6 cents higher or 1.2% up at $5.11 on June 23.
