WWF-Singapore has appointed Chew Sutat as CEO, effective June 1, as the organisation marks its 20th anniversary alongside 65 years of WWF globally.
WWF, or World Wide Fund for Nature, is described as one of the world’s largest independent conservation organisations.
Chew, a columnist at The Edge Singapore, brings over 25 years of experience in the corporate and financial sectors, having served as a non-executive director and advisor to companies, start-ups, investment committees, foundations and non-profit organisations.
A Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors and the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore, Chew is a former chairman of Community Chest and a recipient of the Global Investor Asia Capital Markets Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021, and the Public Service Medal in 2023.
“It is a privilege to take on this role at WWF-Singapore at such a significant milestone,” says Chew, who was most recently a senior managing director at SGX.
“I look forward to working with the team, the Board and our partners to carry that purpose forward and deliver greater impact for climate, nature, community and our shared future together.”

Hsieh Fu Hua, chairman of WWF-Singapore, says Chews “brings a strong sense of purpose, strategic focus and a deep appreciation of WWF-Singapore's role in advancing climate and nature outcomes.”
Hsieh, a former SGX CEO, is confident in Chew’s ability to strengthen the organisation's impact across Singapore and the region.
Chew takes the helm as WWF-Singapore advances several flagship initiatives, including Canopy, a nature finance facility supporting up to 12,000 hectares of high-quality restoration across Southeast Asia, as well as the Action for a Resilient Climate (ARC) Coalition, which brings together corporates, financial institutions, philanthropic organisations and government partners to promote integrity and transparency in global carbon markets.
