Telco MyRepublic has appointed Jeannie Ong as its group chief investor relations officer. In this newly-created role, Ong will help lead the company to a possible IPO “in the near future”, while also overseeing its corporate communications function.

Ong was previously chief strategic partnership office and chief marketing officer at StarHub. She joined the then fledging telco back in 2001, and then help bring the company public in 2004. At one point, StarHub was a component stock of the Straits Times Index.

Malcolm Rodrigues, MyRepublic’s group CEO, describes Ong’s appointment as a signal of his “bold intent” to take the company public.
