Maritime asset manager Yangzijiang (YZJ) Maritime Development has ordered 10 newbuilds to increase its portfolio to 105 vessels, of which 53 are under construction, according to a bourse filing on April 27.

Comprising four product/crude tankers newbuilds of approximately 114,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) each, four product/oil tankers of approximately 49,800 DWT each and two bulk carriers of approximately 40,000 DWT, the vessels will be funded through a combination of equity co-investment and debt financing.

The eco-design features, including EEDI Phase 3 compliance, and methanol fuel readiness for the 49,800 DWT type, position the vessels favourably for a market increasingly shaped by environmental regulation.
