The Economic Strategy Review’s (ESR) replacement of the Singapore Economic Resilience Taskforce’s (SERT) third workstream will help give a "broader review” of the taskforce’s economic strategy amid the fast evolving global landscape, says Deputy Prime Minister and SERT chairman Gan Kim Yong on Aug 4.

The third workstream, which is meant to review longer-term strategies, will be supplanted by five committees covering global competitiveness, technology and innovation, entrepreneurship, human capital and managing the impact of restructuring.

“We are facing a very challenging and uncertain future because of the tariff being introduced by the US, and this is not just because of the impact of the tariff directly, but [also] because it has created a lot of uncertainty in the global economic landscape,” says Gan.
