Warden beat out two other nominees in this category, including a March cover story titled “Investing in war: A call to arms for defence stocks” by The Edge Singapore associate editor Jovi Ho, writer Douglas Toh and analyst Thiveyen Kathirrasan. Another nominee in this category was Jada Nagumo of Nikkei Asia, who wrote “Asian stock markets take on Wall Street with slate of reforms”.
The Edge Singapore picked up two awards at the eighth SGX Orb Awards on Nov 27, including Story of the Year. Organised by the SGX Group, the annual awards recognise the best in financial news and content.
Executive editor Goola Warden won the top prize at the Singapore Exchange’s (SGX) annual awards with her cover story “Loss in translation: The downside of a haven currency like Singapore’s”, published in September. The story was inspired by how numerous local listed companies had to deal with the gnawing issue of a strong Singdollar versus the currencies of other markets where they have extensive operations. This issue is worth the spotlight, given how disruptions caused by changes in the global currency system could hamper export and import activity, affecting the stock performance of local stocks.
