Sam Lain Equipment Services was established in 1988 with a workforce of less than 10 and a turnover of less than $100,000 to today’s 400-strong team and a top line of close to $100 million. Sam Lain has transformed very well over the years and takes pride in being one of the leading contractors in the underground utilities infrastructure industry in Singapore.
Sam Lain stays true to its core expertise of constructing gas, water, sewer, electrical and telecommunications networks via pipe jacking or open trenching methodology. The company is equipped with a large fleet of plants and machineries, ranging from silent & vibro pilers, crawler & gantry cranes and high-pressure jet grouting machines to be as self-equipped as possible and less dependent on others.
Sam Lain treasures its staff, as much as its relationship with clients, which include statutory boards and main contractors. Likewise, the company treats suppliers and sub-contractors with utmost trust and respect.
In 2024, Sam Lain would have, among other work heads, 4 categories with unlimited tender amount in CW 02 – Civil Engineering, CR 07 – Pipe Laying, ME 11 – Mechanical Engineering & SY 05 – Supply of Electrical Cables, as administered by Building & Construction Authority (BCA).
Sam Lain has received numerous safety and business accolades, especially in recent years, from the SHARP Awards from WSH Council to LTA SHA - Certificate of Excellence to SME 100 and Enterprise 50 Awards.

Sam Lain is always venturing into new business initiatives. Through innovation and creativity, it seeks to bring the company to greater heights. Together with SP Services, it has won the pilot project in automatic meter readings as rolled out by PUB. Within the company, Sam Lain has also conducted a vertical and horizontal integration of its business model.
In addition, the company recently secured the authorized distributorship with Dresser Utility Solutions for the full range of gas meters for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
Sam Lain was also appointed as sole distributor for EHV cables in Singapore by a China cable manufacturer. Together with the team of dedicated staff, the management is confident in continuously scaling new heights for the company.
