Singapore business leaders can look forward to a new digital playbook with tips on reducing Scope 2 emissions. One of three “scopes” of emissions, Scope 2 emissions refer to indirect greenhouse gas emissions associated with the purchase of electricity, as well as steam, heat or cooling.

Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Tan See Leng announced the playbook in his opening speech at the Asia Clean Energy Summit (ACES) 2024 on Oct 22.

The Energy Market Authority (EMA), the Energy Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) are developing the playbook, titled “Powering a Sustainable Future: A Playbook on Scope 2 Emissions Reduction for Singapore Businesses”.

Two sections from the three-part playbook are now available online. Over 15 pages, it provides an overview of Singapore’s Scope 2-related emissions and the role of the private sector in reducing carbon emissions.
