AMTD Group says it will be marching into the Metaverse “full scale” along with its AMTD SpiderNet Ecosystem members and alliance partners on Feb 1.
In a filing on the Singapore Exchange (SGX), the group says it will establish its presence as “AMTD SpiderNet World” into the “best and most promising Metaverses” such as “The Sandbox”.
This will be done through the opening of the AMTD L’Officiel land in “The Sandbox”, says the group.
AMTD SpiderNet World will comprise four districts – Business “IDEA”, Knowledge, Social and Entertainment and Lifestyle.
The Business “IDEA” district will contain the group’s main businesses and serving tools, offering a “diverse suite of decentralised services to its users”, while the Knowledge district is the Metaverse home for the first-of-its-kind AMTD FinTech Center of PolyU Faculty of Business that offers a Doctorate Program in FinTech,
The Social district will house the Metaverse headquarters of AMTD’s social and community efforts, while the Entertainment and Lifestyle district will serve as AMTD’s Metaverse headquarters for its entertainment and creative content segment.

Dr Calvin Choi, chairman of AMTD Group and founder of AMTD’s IDEA strategy says, the group is “fully devoted to embrace the Metaverse era”.
It is also dedicated to bringing AMTD’s “proven and supreme SpiderNet connectivity and ecosystem capabilities to the Metaverse”, says Choi.
“AMTD will connect the physical context with the digital offerings, provide a full suite of diversified services to users and customers across all spaces and sectors through our SpiderNet Ecosystem partners and its wide network in the globe. AMTD has committed its resources to double down on its investments into the creative economy, creating sustainable values to its users and stakeholders,” he adds.

Benjamin Eymère, CEO of L’Officiel, chief Metaverse officer of AMTD International, says, “We have decided to create clear categories for our upcoming Metaversal developments. Shares in AMTD closed flat at $12.50 on Jan 28.
