SINGAPORE (Mar 22): Noble Group has called for a trading halt soon after announcing its first bond default.

The surprise trading halt is pending an announcement, Noble says.

With the default on US$379 million ($497.5 million) of fixed rate senior notes already factored in, analysts will look for any hint of progress in its proposed debt restructuring deal that has been opposed by the group's equity investors.
