A world first in solid gold
The new-generation Kalpa Chronor from Parmigiani Fleurier houses the world’s first solid gold integrated self-winding chronograph movement. The mechanism of this tonneau was developed and manufactured entirely in-house over six years. Its COSCcertified calibre PF365 oscillates at a frequency of 5Hz, or 36,000 vibrations per hour, achieving a reading accuracy of one-tenth of a second. The timepiece features an 18-carat gold bipartite dial in black, finished with an opaline centre, a hand-worked braid-effect guilloché detail on the flange and snailed counters. Its luminescent Delta hands point to hand-applied 18-carat rose-gold faceted indices, matching the folding buckle on a Hermès black alligator strap. The Kalpa Chronor comes in a limited edition of 50 numbered pieces.
Time travel with Prada
Prada’s travelling pop-up, designed to look like a railway station, makes a stop at Paragon from now to Aug 22. Titled “Prada Silver Line”, the retail project offers exclusive designs that are only available at the kiosk. Fans will love the 114 sq m space that has a mock-up of the cabin of an actual American Streamliner of the 1930s and 1950s.
