SINGAPORE (May 28): It has been a busy two months for Omega. In April, the company announced the appointment of English golfer Tommy Fleetwood as its golfing ambassador. He joins other Omega golfing stars such as Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Michelle Wie. Fleetwood is an obvious selection: At just 27 years old, he has already claimed four tournament victories and was the 2017 Race to Dubai champion. He also finished strongly in the US Open and World Golf Championships in Mexico last year.
This month, Omega also made an official announcement that Kiwi crewmates Peter Burling and Blair Tuke had been appointed as sailing ambassadors. They lifted the America’s Cup in 2017, making Burling the youngest winning helmsman in the competition’s history — he was only 26 years old then. The duo’s winning streak is admirable. Together, they have won six World Championship medals in the 49er class, including four golds from 2013 to 2016, making them the first sailors to win four consecutive 49er class World Championships. Burling and Tuke have also claimed two Olympic Games medals in the 49er class — silver at London 2012 and gold at Rio 2016, where they won by a 43-point margin, the largest of any sailing class at the Olympic Games in over 50 years.
The latest addition to the Black Bay line is the TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight, which pays tribute to the brand’s first divers’ watches. The timepiece, which has a case diameter of 39mm and is fitted with a new TUDOR manufacture movement, is designed for slim wrists and will appeal to vintage enthusiasts. Evocative of the original TUDOR divers’ watches, the hour marker, hands and minute track of the black and steel bezel are finished in gold. The steel bracelet is inspired by the folding riveted bracelets of the TUDOR watches produced in the 1950s and 1960s. The other options are a brown leather strap with a folding clasp and black fabric strap with a gold-coloured band.
Riding high
Donald Glover is riding the wave of success. Last year, he won two Golden Globe awards for Best Television Series and Best Actor for Atlanta, a TV series he created. Just this month, he dropped his music video This Is America, which debuted at No 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. He also stars in Solo: A Star Wars Story, which hits cinemas this month. At a recent photocall for the movie in London, Glover wore a cashmere knit top and striped cotton-wool trousers from Bottega Veneta’s spring/summer 2018 collection.

A beauty to behold
Breguet presents a new interpretation of its Reine de Naples 8908 model, the first timepiece of the eponymous collection launched in 2002. Inspired by an early bracelet watch Abraham-Louis Breguet created for Caroline Murat, the Queen of Naples, Breguet’s watchmakers have created a contemporary jewellery watch that epitomises feminine refinement. The rose-gold case is set with 128 diamonds and the dial is partially crafted from Tahitian mother-of-pearl, enhancing the main attributes of the original model — the moon phases and the power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock. The watch is equipped with a self-winding calibre specially developed with women in mind.
