SINGAPORE (July 2): This July, Casio G-Shock’s two new premium timepieces — the MRG-G2000HA and MTG-B1000 — will be available in Singapore. The launch will be via a special pop-up event organised by Casio and Cortina from July 6 to 15 at the Cortina Watch Mandarin Gallery. The watches, which were introduced in March at Baselworld, are special in their own way. The MRG-G2000HA draws its inspiration from the beautifully decorated tsuba, a sword guard that protects the sword, the hand of the wearer as well as balances the weapon. The MRG-G2000HA marries both form and function with its bezel and bracelet centre links, which have been crafted to resemble a style of sword guards called tetsu-tsuba. Specifically, their indentations recall the hammering technique used to create tetsu-tsuba, while their colours bring to mind murasaki-gane (deep violet metal) and suaka copper — coloured alloys used in various traditional Japanese crafts.

Chaumet in Tokyo
The Worlds of Chaumet exhibition is being held at the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum until Sept 17. This special exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the maison’s fascinating history and savoir faire. Apart from 300 pieces of jewellery, other exhibits of note include objets d’art, paintings and drawings. Among the highlights is Pope Pius VII’s tiara (pictured), a gift from Emperor Napoléon I. It is made of gold, silver, gilt, emeralds, strass, pearls, synthetic stones, cut glass, silk velvet, gold lamé, metal threads, wood and paper.

Roll away
Roll your holiday wear to your destination with this stylish FendiRimowa cabin/carry-on. It is now available in red and blue, after the black and yellow version introduced last November. Contemporary and convenient, the trolley sports Rimowa’s signature design and Fendi’s emblematic double “F” logo. Suitcase handles, a name tag and a paper planelike charm, all in Cuoio Romano leather, complete the collaborative creation.

Pop culture
Bvlgari’s Wild Pop High Jewellery Collection features dramatic pieces inspired by the 1980s, an era known for excess. The idea for Wild Pop was sparked after Bvlgari’s creative director, Lucia Silvestri, visited the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in New York City and saw all the Bvlgari catalogs and correspondence in the artist’s archives. The collection is characterised by glamour and innovation.

Embracing femininity
Inspired by the Minerva heritage that dates back to 1858 and the pocket watches made then, Montblanc introduces two new ladies’ timepieces — in 32mm and 36mm — in its Star Legacy Collection. The classic finishing is sophisticated and key elements have been kept. The dials of the new Montblanc Star Legacy ladies’ timepieces feature the maison’s exploding star guilloché pattern in the centre, highlighting the brilliance of its diamond ring at six o’clock. A railway minute track and a filet sauté guilloché runs around the dial while elegant leaf-shaped hands contribute to a contemporary yet classic aesthetic. The strap is crafted from Sfumato alligator leather.
