SINGAPORE (Oct 15): At the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2019 fashion show, girly dresses embellished by big bows, rosettes and sequins were the highlight. It is as if Miuccia Prada had a rethink on how to upgrade the shabby chic styles of the 1960s and 1970s. Strategically placed cut-outs and unfinished hemlines teamed with platform heels and knee-high socks add to the beauty of the collection. Colours include grey, blue and black, with bright reds and purple thrown in for good measure. We predict this collection will go down well with millennial celebrities.

Get lucky
Van Cleef & Arpels celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Alhambra or symbol of luck collection with a series of new pieces adorned with dazzling materials. This special anniversary offering highlights the blue agate and introduces the guillochage technique on yellow gold to create a radiant and luminous aesthetic. Blue agate first appeared in the collection in 1989. It is returning to centre stage in a Vintage Alhambra necklace and bracelet, which are made of a translucent form of chalcedony combined with yellow gold.

Keep calm
The Fresh Calming line by Laniege is a fragrance-free range made for dehydrated oily skin. It comprises the Quick Morning Mask, Balancing Toner, Quick Toner Pack and Balancing Serum. Skin problems are addressed with the powerful combination of deep seawater, which is rich in essential minerals, and the strong antioxidant effects of natural lychee extract.

Style accompaniments
Chanel seduced fans with the Spring/Summer 2019 accessories collection at its ready-to-wear fashion show. Spotted at the runway were double visor caps and wide-brimmed hats in fringed straw, layers of sautoirs, pendants and beaded necklaces and more XXL cuff bracelets. The 11.12 bags come in tweed, braid and parasol embroidery. The Boy Chanel is back as a saddlebag in leather, tweed patchwork and more designs that are sure to delight fans.

Feminine allure
Inspired by the Minerva heritage that dates back to 1858, Montblanc introduces two new ladies’ timepieces in its Star Legacy Collection in 32mm and 36mm. The dials feature the maison’s exploding star guilloché pattern in the centre. An elegant and distinctive diamond ring at six o’clock encircles the small seconds counter and also contains a smaller Montblanc exploding star guilloché pattern.

Other details include a unique railway minute track, featuring dots instead of lines — a rare twist found only in a few models from the late 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century — and a filet sauté guilloché running around the dial and outlining it. The crowns stand out with the recognisable and easy-grip onion shape, adorned on the side with the Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl. The watches are completed with Sfumato alligator straps.

Scent of a place
Louis Vuitton has captured the smell of some of our favourite holiday destinations and turned them into scented candles. Each scent evokes something special. For example, L’Air du Jardin captures the fragrance of a garden in Provence; Île Blanche offers whiffs of jasmine and ocean spray; Feuilles d’Or is a nod towards the patchouli fields of Indonesia; while Dehors il Neige is all about winter as it has infusions of star anise and cinnamon. The candles, placed in ceramic holders, are available at select Louis Vuitton stores for $310.

Small, but stylish
It may be small, but it adds style to your overall look. Hermès introduces the Twillon — a silk ribbon that is long and thin (3cm x 193cm) — for your hair. Cut from a scarf, each piece is unique and shows different parts of the design.

Zest for life
Dolce & Gabbana gives us a feel of the coast of Capri in its Italian Zest makeup collection. As the name suggests, expect a vibrant palette of warm shades that give skin a hint of that sun-kissed look. The Italian Zest Healthy Glow Stick is the star of the collection. With simple strokes, it provides a natural healthy glow that lasts all day. The deeper shade, Bronze, creates the honeyed tan of summer days spent in Capri, while the lighter shade, Shimmer, illuminates contours with a golden gleam.

Exquisite, understated, daring
The Corum Bubble Watch collection now includes the all-new compact 17mm diameter Mini Bubble, in addition to the existing 42mm, 47mm and 52mm editions. Created for women, the design follows its predecessors with a round stainless steel case, domed sapphire crystal and a bubble-shaped crown with rubber grip. The 17mm version features a bezel set with stones that match their bracelets — topaz on a turquoise bracelet, ruby on a red bracelet and diamonds on a brown bracelet — limited to 18 pieces per colour. The Mini Bubble features a quartz movement and bubble-shaped sapphire crystal, which acts as a magnifying glass that enhances legibility.
