IWC Schaffhausen unveils two striking timepieces: the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 in an 18-ct 5N gold case and the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar featuring a Pellaton winding system and ceramic components. Both watches showcase captivating racing green shades

During Watches and Wonders, IWC Schaffhausen’s Ingenieur Automatic 40 garnered significant attention with its three new references. However, two watches quietly captivated watch collectors: the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW388110) and the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar (Ref. IW503608). What made them notable was their shared theme of incorporating the colour green.
Both timepieces are now available for purchase on IWC.com and at select IWC boutiques. Furthermore, they qualify for enrolment in the My IWC care programme, which grants them an extension of six years to the standard two-year international limited warranty, providing additional benefits and peace of mind.

The watch’s visual appeal lies in its striking features, including a green dial with sunray finishing, golden hands adorned with white luminescence, and a green rubber strap. Adding to its allure is that these elements are encased for the first time in an 18-ct 5N gold case.
As the name of the watch suggests, the dial features the iconic and easy-to-read cockpit instrument design that has become the hallmark of IWC’s Pilot’s Watches. The stopped minutes are displayed at 12 o’clock and the minutes at 9 o’clock. The chronograph has a day and date aperture at 3 o’clock and small hacking seconds at 6 o’clock.
Giving the watch its heartbeat is the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre movement which can be admired through the transparent sapphire glass caseback. This mechanical chronograph movement, designed in a classic column-wheel style, has 242 components. The bi-directional pawl winding system enables a power reserve of 46 hours to be accumulated in the mainspring, ensuring reliable and precise timekeeping. Finally, the watch is fitted with IWC’s EasX-CHANGE system that enables a quick and easy strap exchange.

To fully appreciate the new reference — in stainless steel with a green dial, a Pellaton winding system and ceramic components — is to take a look at the past: IWC’s legendary perpetual calendar complication was developed in the 1980s by Kurt Klaus, the former head-watchmaker. This mechanical programme automatically accounts for varying month lengths and leap years, requiring no manual adjustments until 2100, when a leap year is omitted as per the Gregorian calendar rule. The patented double moon phase display accurately portrays the moon from both the northern and southern hemispheres, deviating by only one day after 577.5 years, thanks to a specialised gear train.
This new iteration is powered by the IWC-manufactured 52615 calibre movement, with all displays perfectly synchronised and easily adjustable via a single crown. The rich shade of green, combined with the sunray finish, creates an exceptional visual depth. Rhodium-plated hands and a matching green rubber strap with stainless steel rivets complement the look of the timepiece. The integrated IWC EasX-CHANGE system allows the wearer to change the strap quickly and easily. Luminescence on the hands and on the dial ensures easy readability at night.
The date display and power reserve are located at 3 o’clock and the month display can be found at 6 o’clock. The weekday display and the small seconds share the subdial at 9 o’clock, while the characteristic double moon phase display sits at 12 o’clock. The IWC typical four-digit year display completes the indications on the dial.
