(Aug 12): Furnishings by Lema Contract help make the Great Scotland Yard in London a dream of a hotel
When you finally find the time in your busy schedule to take a break, you want to be sure that the hotel you book will offer you the best in creature comforts. We say check out and check into the Great Scotland Yard in London.
This 153-room, five-star hotel, part of the Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, has just opened after a 3½-year renovation. Part of the furnishing works were done by Lema Contract, a leading international interpreter of Italian style that was founded in 1970 by the Meroni family.
Lema Contract was the first Italian company to develop a load-bearing panel system in a variety of finishes and the made-to-measure Armadio al Centimetro wardrobe.
Today, the company has a complete catalogue of products that includes modular systems for the day and night areas, free-standing furniture (tables, bed, chairs and accessories) as well as a collection of upholstered furniture. Owing to Lema Contract’s expertise in custom-made solutions, it has worked with acclaimed architects and designers on important contract projects all over the world.

For the Great Scotland Yard hotel, Lema Contract supplied bespoke wardrobes, TV units, wooden bathroom furnishings and the doors of both rooms and corridors according to the technical and stylistic requirements of EPR Architects.
This project is testimony to Lema Contract’s experience and quality work, making it an ideal partner for ventures in both the hospitality and residential sectors. The Great Scotland Yard is only one of its many projects in London; Lema Contract is currently completing another prestigious development at 20 Grosvernor Square, which comprises 37 apartments in the heart of Mayfair.
Angelo Meroni, president of Lema, says: “The Great Scotland Yard reconfirms once again our versatility in the contract sector. The expertise formed in more than 50 years of business and the added value of having an organised structure on the territory mean that we can satisfy the technical and stylistic requirements of every project, even the most challenging ones such as Lutetia [in Paris] and the Great Scotland Yard.
