SEE | Light to Night Festival | National Gallery Singapore

Check it out before it ends on Jan 26 — National Gallery Singapore’s Light to Night Festival features a myriad of art-meets-lifestyle activities as well as immersive day-to-night installations, all happening at the Civic District.

Themed “Here and Now”, the event calls for reflection of one’s time and environment and draws attention to art as a platform to document and respond to one’s lived experiences. Coupled with the concept of play and innovation, the festival features a multidisciplinary line-up of over 60 programmes and artworks by local and international artists to spark spontaneous and ephemeral encounters with art across the Civic District. For the full programme line-up, visit lighttonight.sg.

Disney On Ice | Feld Entertainment

For the March school holidays, take the ultimate journey down memory lane with Mickey Mouse at Singapore Indoor Stadium. Produced by Feld Entertainment, “Disney On Ice Presents Mickey and Friends” is a mesmerising show that allows guests to be part of adventures with Mickey Mouse and his pals as they glide through some of our most beloved Disney stories.

Mickey Mouse is joined by Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy on a journey to discover his favourite memory of all time. Using Mickey’s “Mouse Pad,” show hosts encourage fans to be part of the action and help the gang venture though Disney stories, sharing memorable moments from treasured tales. Along the way, families sail away with Moana as she displays courage to save her island on a high-seas adventure with the demigod, Maui.

The audience continue their journey to the wintry world of Arendelle as royal sisters Anna and Elsa discover true love is the most powerful magic of all and experience the mysterious magic of Fantasia as a Sorcerer’s Apprentice makes brooms come to life.

Painting of the Year | UOB

Discover what prize-winning art looks like at UOB Art Gallery at UOB Plaza 1. Winners of the 2022 UOB Painting of the Year competition will be displayed in full glory at the gallery space from now till Feb 19 as well as on UOBandArt.com.

One piece worth a look is “A Painting about Nothing and Everything” by Singaporean artist Mr Lester Lee, 58, who was awarded Top Winner in the Established Artist Category. A three-time award recipient of UOB Painting of the Year Singapore, Lee’s painting is a juxtaposition of everyday items to illustrate how there is “no preconceived idea or concept” in his artwork, and to depict the importance of being present.

Launched in 1982, UOB’s Painting of the Year is the longest running art competition in Singapore and one of the most prestigious in Southeast Asia, which recognises emerging and established artists from around the region. In recognition of the bank’s long-term commitment to art, UOB was presented with the National Arts Council’s Distinguished Patron of the Arts Award for the 18th consecutive year in 2022.

This week’s must-dine is Michelin-starred contemporary Indian restaurant Revolver – now serving its latest set menu entitled “Bullet 8”, featuring a fine selection of irresistibly spiced, fire-kissed dishes, curated by executive chef Saurabh Udinia.

You begin with a Snack Box featuring bite-sized morsels of Burrata Chaat, Sago Crab Fritter, and Wagyu Caviar Tostadas. Revolver’s always-popular Paneer, flown weekly from Delhi, is flavoured with a sweet-spicy blend of mango and habanero.

What follows is a procession of fine seasonal produce from around the world, saturated with Revolver’s bold mix of spices before they are deftly cooked over the open fire grill. They include whole Hamachi Collar, Australian Marron glazed with coriander and mint butter, New Zealand Pamu Venison Seekh cooked over the tandoor, and gorgeous crowns of Romanesco brightened by ginger and tomato.

Reflecting the cool of winter, this season’s Kulchettes are blanketed in fondue with the deep savouriness of Goan chorizo. For dessert, expect a Sea Buckthorn and Cherry Panjiri.

For this season’s Vegetarian Menu ($159), diners will enjoy dishes like Japanese Aubergine with Tamarind Mash, Purple Potatoes with Punjab Khadi, Bombay Dew Beans Misal, and Amritsar Kulchette Fondue.

Bullet 8 is available till Mar 31 starting from $99++ (5-course lunch) to $229++ (9-course dinner). Wine pairings start from $75++. For reservations, visit www.revolver.com.sg/reservations/
