DO | Community bike ride | Brompton

Calling all Brompton owners! As part of a year-long global world tour, the British bicycle brand has brought it’s one millionth bike to Singapore for a meet-and-greet with its die-hard fans, now on display at Funan Mall Atrium Space till July 23.

As part of the festivities, any and all Brompton owners are invited to congregate at Marina Bay Sands Spectra area on July 23, at 9am, to join in a mass ride around the bay. The ride will end at Funan, where the fun continues inside the mall, complete with a Best Dressed contest and other activities.

The event forms a part of the company’s ‘All Together Different’ campaign, an initiative that celebrates the different ways Brompton fits into lives, the community that uses the bike, and a collective belief that cities have a different future – greener, more connected, more active – a future powered by bikes.

Brompton Singapore is also launching the Brompton Archive Edition — special edition bikes designed around the original Mark One specifications and come in three unmistakable historical colours: Baby Pink, Arctic Blue and Apple Green. The Archive Edition has a robust, handmade steel frame, three hub gears, dynamo lights powered by the rider’s movement, and a silver rear rack for carrying cargo. The bikes will be available for purchase at the Brompton Junction store in Funan Mall or its official dealers from July 19.

Tour de force menu | Butcher’s Block

Chef de cuisine Jordan Keao of Butcher’s Block pays tribute to his Hawaiian heritage in his latest Tour de Force menu, which presents refreshed signatures, seasonal creations, and off-the-a-la-carte-menu specialities that celebrate the bounties of spring.

Relish the smoky flavours and aromas presented through an exquisite multi-course menu, with delights like Wagyu Tartare perfectly paired with a decadent beef fat financier and finished with caviar. Exclusively available for dinner are mouthwatering dishes such as the Hawaiian-poke-inspired Smoked Sashimi — a refreshed assembly of cold-smoked hamachi and Japanese otoro, presented in a smoke-filled cloche with burnt avocado, N25 caviar and finished with delicious herb dashi; and Grilled Holland Razor Clams — sliced and flame-sautéed with leeks before being served in their shells with kombu beurre blanc, homemade preserved lemon, allium flowers, fennel blossoms, and dill.

The five-course lunch menu costs $178++ per guest, while the seven-course dinner menu costs $238++ per guest. For reservations, visit www.butchersblock.com.sg.

DRINK | Not too classic | Sugarhall

Jigger & Pony Group’s rum-focused cocktail pub Sugarhall invites cocktail lovers to experience its playful new menu this summer. Principal bartender Sam Loh and assistant principal bartender Edward Koh introduce the cheeky cocktail programme in a fresh new format with three key chapters: Not Too Sweet, a play on childhood favourites; Not Too Funky, a gateway to high ester rums; and Not Too Fancy, featuring whimsical libations big on personality.

As a twist on the Old Fashioned, try the Rum Old Fashioned ($26), which stirs down dark Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva Rum with Pedro Ximenez Sherry and Angostura bitters for a luscious and classy sipper. As a play on a childhood favourite, try the Bandung-inspired Rose Rosé I Love You ($23). The Jungle Sunbird ($23) is a great-tasting rum-based cocktail with a high ABV, showcasing the bar’s passion for rum. And for something a little more whimsical, try the Pornstar Martinez ($25), a classier cousin to Sugarhall’s classic Pornstar Martini.
