SINGAPORE (July 19): Toll Group officially launched its 100,000 sq m logistics hub in Tuas on Wednesday, complete with drones and autonomous vehicles zipping around the facility.

Only 3 km away from the Tuas Port which will be completed by 2019, the facility is expected to serve growing traffic in Southeast Asia amid a population boom. Today, the hub serves customers from retail, pharmaceutical, healthcare and other sectors.

Toll City has been operating in Singapore for a year and it is running at full capacity. But Chris Pearce, president of Toll Global Logistics, says the market is extremely competitive. The logistics sector is no stranger to headwinds, from high rental rates to tight labour force and margin pressures as competition heats up.
