SINGAPORE (Sept 27): A consortium comprising Tuas Power and a unit of ST Engineering unit has won the contract to build Singapore’s fifth desalination plant.

The plant, located on Jurong Island, will be built by 2020 under a design-build-own-operate (DBOO) arrangement. It is expected to add 137,000 cubic metres of desalinated water a day to the republic’s water supply.

The 60:40 Tuas Power-ST Marine consortium will enter into a 25-year water purchase agreement to supply desalinated water to PUB, Singapore's national water agency.
