In a glittering celebration of market leadership and long-term value creation, The Edge Singapore hosted the Billion Dollar Club (BDC) Awards 2025, honouring Singapore-listed companies that have delivered sustained outperformance, strategic discipline and exemplary governance.

Dato’ Ho Kay Tat, Group CEO of The Edge Media Group

“Since the last edition of the Billion Dollar Club, sentiment among Singapore-listed companies and the investment community has turned decisively more upbeat. Thanks to the well-coordinated initiatives of MAS and SGX, trading activity has improved in a big way—the Straits Times Index has finally reached new record levels after 17 long years.” said Dato’ Ho Kay Tat, Group CEO of The Edge Media Group. He added that blue-chip leaders, “guided by competent professional managers,” have paired stronger earnings with shareholder-friendly moves—more efficient capital use, buybacks and higher dividends—“and the best of them are recognised tonight.”

While noting that STI constituents often command the headlines, Dato’ Ho underscored the ecosystem’s breadth: “We also recognise the many small- and mid-cap companies—often founder-led—whose ambition and execution form the backbone of our economy.” He celebrated this year’s Centurion Club winners and looked ahead: “As these companies continue their growth journey, we look forward to more crossing the S$1-billion threshold to join the ranks of the Billion Dollar Club.”

Dato’ Ho also announced a strategic update for the publisher: “As market conditions evolve, The Edge Singapore and our property title EdgeProp Singapore are now managed separately. From January, the original real estate pull-out City & Country will return to The Edge Singapore. This reset enables us to deliver a richer, deeper package of corporate and investing content — “keeping pace with MAS and SGX’s drive to boost investment in the stock market.”

In recognition of the critical importance of sustainability, ESG metrics provided by Morningstar Sustainalytics were included in the scoring to determine the BDC winners.

The SGX-listed companies are evaluated for performance across four pillars:

  • Highest Returns to Shareholders over Three Years
  • Highest Growth in Profit After Tax over Three Years
  • Highest Weighted Return on Equity over Three Years
  • Overall Sector Winner

Capping the night’s honours, Sembcorp Industries was named Company of the Year (Billion Dollar Club), while Food Empire received Company of the Year (Centurion Club). This accolade recognises all-round excellence in strategy, execution and shareholder value creation.

City Developments Limited achieved a historic third consecutive win for Best ESG Risk Ratings, underscoring the company’s gold-standard integration of environmental stewardship and long-term business resilience.
