SINGAPORE (July 26): Intel’s quarter-century reign as the world’s biggest chipmaker by sales may be about to come to an end.

The usurper? Samsung Electronics, according to a Financial Times article.

Both tech giants are reporting their 2Q results on Thursday and Samsung is expected to surpass Intel’s semiconductor revenue of US$14.4 billion ($19.6 billion) by about US$600 million.
