SINGAPORE (Aug 26): StarHub has inked a memorandum of understanding with three internet service providers in China to enhance data connectivity and explore business opportunities between Singapore and Chongqing.
The agreement will see the Singapore telco work with China Mobile, China Unicorn and China Telecom to strengthen digital connectivity between Singapore and Chongqing and foster Singapore-China trade.
Singapore companies will be able to work with their preferred ISP partner in China and still enjoy robust connectivity with the business back home.
This was one of 13 memoranda of understanding signed at the Smart China Expo 2019 event, supported by both the Singapore and Chinese government.
These were to help drive business collaborations in fintech, urban solutions, artificial intelligence, data analytics, transport, logistics and data connectivity.
StarHub has also announced its investment in five submarine cable systems – Asia-Pacific Cable Network 2, Asia Submarine-cable Express, Asia-Pacific Gateway, Asia-America Gateway and Japan-US Network – to support international connectivity.
These networks provide a dedicated, secure, point-to-point connection to 200 cities, and are key to this collaboration with the Chinese ISPs.
